Are You Capturing The Moment, Or Living In It

  Are You Capturing The Moment
Or Living In It?

What’s going on world? I am excited to be back with you again to celebrate our freedom today. Over the past week, I was able to see a great story of success and triumph as Tiger Woods earned a victory by winning his first PGA Tour event in five years. Whether you are a fan of the game of golf or not, this accomplishment is one that is deeply rooted in willpower and the desire to succeed. Beyond Tiger’s story of ups and downs and up again, the thing that struck me most about his victory was looking at a picture of the onlookers as they celebrated with Tiger during his victory round.

They do this to be apart of the moment by capturing a piece of this history tangibly to confirm their being there and to fulfill the phrase “a picture is worth a thousand words.” Now not everyone in this picture has a camera, and as you look around there are a few individuals that don’t appear to be capturing the moment in that way including Tiger. In contrast, pay attention to Tiger Woods and you will notice that he doesn’t have any device to capture this moment with because he is creating the moment and living within it.

When we look at the dynamic of pictures like this it makes me think in our life’s decisions and choices to question are we bystanders working to capture the moment of others? Or are we center stage and working to create moments for ourselves?

Capturing the moment means that when the moment happens you are available to seize it because you are present in a situation that may never occur again, but if you’re like Tiger you understand that your hard work and dedication will continue to create moments for you again and again because this and every moment is a result of you. In the same way that water doesn’t have to work to become wet, you don’t have to work to capture the moment when you are the moment. Once you realize that you are the centerpiece of every situation that is created in your life, you will be able to actively enjoy what you are responsible for creating again and again.
This week’s post is an illustration not only supporting and appreciating the success of Tiger Woods, but also to ask are you living life as a bystander waiting to capture someone else’s shine, or are you fully present and working to create moments around yourself? Consider this, we all know that there are different viewpoints when you’re looking through a camera to capture a moment, versus the cameras looking at you as you create the moment. As for you and me alike, I hope we choose not to just fill up hard drives with moments that we captured, but we live a fulfilling life through creating moments that mean more than any picture ever could.

be happy for this moment, for this moment is your life
