Mistake Management – Get Mad & Get Over It

Something that I have learned in the process of inspiring better is that I am not perfect, and neither is anyone else. Let’s face it, we all make mistakes at times, and that is ok.  A mistake can come in many forms, whether you are driving to a destination and happen to make the wrong turn, or if you inadvertently put an event on your calendar for the incorrect date or time mistakes do happen. I pride myself on being a decent listener that is working to get better, however, there are times that my wife has asked me to complete a task that I may have forgotten. In these situations, it is natural to feel a sense of regret in your decision making, and it is important that you consider this as an opportunity to learn and improve from it.

In being a student of personal development and working to acquire knowledge, I enjoy hearing the perspectives of Image result for managing mistakehow others face adversity and manage their failures. I am clear in understanding that when you do anything for the first time or anytime thereafter, you may make a mistake. I am equally as clear in understanding that what you do after a mistake is what ultimately will matter most. So in an effort to assist you to overcome any setback or regret, consider the below 3 steps to help you get over it.

Get Mad – Get Over It!

1. Accept Your Feelings – If something has made you mad or has you feeling some type of way, this is a clear indicator that you are emotionally invested in the situation. Our emotions work in such a way that they are triggered only by the things that are relatable to us specifically, so if something has bothered you to the point of being upset you must accept and acknowledge your feelings as a start.

2. Consider A Solution – The best way to improve a bad situation is to figure out what the best situation could be, and work towards that. Our minds are so powerful that they can create a vision of what we desire, and literally attract things into our lives that fulfill what we want for ourselves.  If you can think it you can do it.

3. Move Forward Through Action – Changing your actions is the foundation to changing the results you achieve. Getting over it and moving past mistakes happens when you are able to create actions that maximize your chances of not creating the same mistakes again. If you ever find yourself stuck in a failure you must fail fast, let it go, and move forward. Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?  A: Because it decided to move.

In the moments in which we make mistakes, we are also learning how to find a way to go progress in life at the same time. Don’t allow yourself to be a prisoner of a shortcoming, instead accept it and work towards making sure that you don’t make the same mistake again. When faced with any level of disappointment remember that this is nothing that you haven’t experienced before, and this too will pass. You can always start the path to correction immediately, and you will become a better version of yourself in the process.
