Is It Time For A Tune Up?

It’s Friday, and another week is in full motion and we are here again to celebrate life and our freedom. This week I want to speak with you about conducting a tune-up for your life. If you are like me and own any motorized vehicle such as a car, lawnmower, scooter, motorcycle or whatever, you know that it is recommended for you to conduct regular maintenance in order for the vehicle to maintain optimal performance. Whether it be the need to change a battery, spark plug, gasoline, oil, tires or anything else that is part of the vehicle, there’s always a tune-up needed to make sure it is operating at its best.

In the same capacity, it is important to remember that in life’s journey your physical body is your primary vehicle, and it needs to have maintenance done to keep it operating safely as you continue on your way.

The suggested replacement of engine oil for a car is recommended every five to ten thousand miles. Even though your car depends on gasoline or diesel fuel as the source of its energy, it is important to maintain a change in oil to keep the engine running. If you don’t have the proper levels of oil in the engine, the vehicle won’t be able to go despite your fuel tank being full.

Similar to the analogy of a vehicle, I believe that your mind is the engine for your body. Although you may have new tires, a shiny coat of paint, and a new home garage to park in, If you don’t have the proper maintenance for your mind your life’s vehicle is not going to be able to operate efficiently. As a result, you will ultimately find that your engine has stopped working before you reached your destination, and you yourself can become stranded on one of life’s many roads. In keeping with this theme, below are a few things that you can do to make sure that your life’s vehicle stays properly tuned to keep you moving forward on your journey.

  • Change your mental oil – think of situations differently and they won’t be able to remain the same.
  • Maintain your exterior – a vehicle that is aesthetically pleasing is a pleasure to drive.
  • Check your tire pressure – make sure that you have a stable foundation to keep you rolling.
  • Apply new wiper blades – the ability to clearly see where you’re going is key to getting there.
  • Heed warnings and alerts – intuition will tell you when something is not running properly.
  • Upgrade your fuel type – putting premium products in will equate to premium results.
  • Get an inspection – having your vehicle professionally inspected will ensure that you are operating at your best.

Our shared goal should be found in making sure that our bodies are running properly to get us to the desired destination for our lives. Along with this journey, there are many miles we all have to cover, and it is important to maintain a finely tuned vehicle to keep you safely moving forward.
